GLEN "GONDO" GONDREZICK TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE NBA HALL OF FAME

Referred to fondly in the sports world simply as "Gondo," former UNLV men's basketball star, NBA player and longtime radio and TV announcer Glen Gondrezick will be posthumously inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame on Saturday evening, August 15, 2009. The 14th annual NBA Hall of Fame Dinner will be held at Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa. After retiring from the pros, Glen became the radio voice of the UNLV basketball games. He is beloved and remembered as the symbol and spokesperson for the Running' Rebels for 17 years. He was one of Coach Jerry Tarkanian's first recruits at UNLV. On the passing of Gondo at the age of 53 two months ago, Tark was quoted as saying, "He is one of my all-time favorite people. I loved the guy."

Also being honored on August 15 will be Tony Bonnici, the longtime Vice-President and General Manager of Lotus Broadcasting in Las Vegas; and Regional Vice-President of Lotus Broadcasting. Tony -- who is one of the most admired, respected and well-liked broadcasters throughout all of Nevada, was the driving force in shaping the direction and focus of the Nevada Broadcasters Association over the past fifteen years. Tony will receive the highest honor given to a Nevada broadcaster: a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Roy Robinson, 80 years young, will also receive a Lifetime Achievement Award. Experienced in radio sales, sales management, station management and station ownership, he is the most proud of the men and women he has trained in radio advertising sales. Roy decided that retirement was not for him and he started working as a radio sales trainer at Lotus Radio in Reno a decade ago. He has remained the company's top direct producer for years. This most prestigious award will acknowledge what has been a tremendous and significant 55 year career in radio.

The fourth special award of the evening will be given to Jonathan Collegio, the architect and visionary of the National Association of Broadcasters role in the DTV Transition. As the Vice-President of Digital Transition for the NAB in Washington, D.C., Jonathan has dedicated the past three years of his career coordinating the broadcast industry's multi-platform campaign to educate television consumers all across America about the transition to DTV. Under his leadership, America's broadcasting industry pledged over $1 Billion to this aggressive nationwide campaign. Nevada's television industry is especially honored to be presenting this award to him, as we induct Jonathan into the NBA Hall of Fame.
